– Answer the following 6 questions: Who, What, When, Where, Why and How.

– Incorporate a quote or phrase from a highly influential new jersey email list executive in the sector.

– Include company contact information such as website, social media and phone numbers.

– Write in the third person .

– Include photos, videos, infographics and company logos . This type of content is shared three times more than plain text.

– Use numbering or bullets to avoid long blocks of text.

–  Reiterate related information about the company

– Thoroughly check spelling, grammar and punctuation .

– Write headlines of between 60 and 80 characters (maximum, not including spaces).

– Insert a dateline with the date and location . For example: USA, June 2014.

– Use a tool to identify relevant journalists .

– Have a second person read the press release to evaluate it .

– Introduce keywords to promote SEO. One keyword per 100 words is recommended.

– Create an attractive headline .

– Send it through distribution platforms such as PR Newswire .

What we can NOT do
– Assume that everyone reads the entire press release.

–  Exaggerate or include hyperbole.

– Distributing the same press release twice .

– Use acronyms or industry jargon .

– Leave out credits or sources of origin.

– Sending the press release to journalists who do not correspond to our industry.

–  Talking too much about a topic.

– Try to sell our products or services directly.

– Write more than 800 words .

– Send the press release by email to recipients in copy or blind copy .

– Use exclamation marks .

– Link to unsafe or unprofessional pages ,

– Insert quotes within long paragraphs .

– Leaving the main topic of the press release hidden.

– Use the pronouns “I”, “you” or “we” (except in a quote).

Based on this analysis, we can say that the creation and production of press releases  is not a simple task. There are many points that we must take into account for its development, and even more mistakes that we must avoid. Content companies, such as Genwords , have a team of editors specialized in the preparation of press releases.
