VR Forklift
One of the most fun business virtual reality applications I saw was at HTC. This is a setup that teaches forklift drivers to drive a forklift using virtual reality (VR) and a truck setup. The big advantage is that what they learned is remembered better, from 40% normally to 80% in the VR setup.

Raymond (the company that developed the setup with HTC) is also working on autonomous forklifts that drive independently. The problem is that there is no development of AI that helps the forklift in the final steps of navigation. But the Dutch startup Fyzir can certainly help with that, they are specialized in that. I tried it by the way and it was not a success. Driving around is fine, but the finer navigation is difficult.

Robots from LG
At LG there was plenty to see, but I choose to zoom in on their robots. I spoke with Jeroen Peeters from LG about what the robots do and will do.

Philips Health
Philips is currently focused on healthcare and was also present at CES. They were there with their new sleep product, among other things. Sleep is an important topic at CES, there was even a separate marketplace for it. Because Philips has a broader focus than just sleep, they were present at Health and Wellness . I had a very nice, broad and long conversation at CES with Jeroen Tas, Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer of Philips. About innovation in general, but also about Philips in particular. Because there is a lot of background noise despite the directional microphone, I have added a part of the conversation in audio format to this article. Jeroen is definitely someone to have in front of the camera again about the developments in healthcare.

Mirror on the wall
We look in the mirror every day, at least most korean phone number whatsapp of us. The mirror shows us ourselves of course, but a mirror can show more. How much more did Perseus Mirrors show at the Dassault Systemes stand . The mirror, developed with Dassault software, shows besides the reflection also other relevant information, as you can see in the (unfortunately bad) picture below. With this you can see the latest news, traffic and weather and other information during your start-up ritual.

On to CES2019
You might be wondering if I will be at CES next year. And the answer is yes, if it were up to me. It really is a 'must' for me and a good start of the year. Maybe I don't see the biggest breakthrough there either. But actually that is not possible.

Things like the internet as we know it today, for example, are created over a long period of time. We didn’t wake up on a Tuesday morning with the internet we have now. No, it started with a dial-up modem 300 baud and has evolved over decades into what it is today. CES is something you have to look at over the years, and that’s what I’m going to do next year.
