Display advertising data: Semrush study

To help you make better decisions based on your competitors' best practices, Semrush has expanded the coverage of its Display Advertising report to include databases from 28 countries, including Spain.
In addition, we have analyzed the most popular industries, devices, formats and ad sizes specifically in our country, to offer you analytical data for your next campaigns on the Google Display Ad Network.
From September to October 2017, we analyzed more indonesian phone numbers than 54 million impressions from the top 10,000 online advertisers and, as a result, we found interesting trends and patterns that can be very revealing for PPC specialists.
To start, we have made a list of those industries that most frequently used the Google Display Ad Network (or GDN).
We then divided this list into categories (each advertiser could belong to up to 5 different categories at the same time) and compiled a list of the sectors with the greatest presence.

According to our analysis, software websites are the most active when it comes to using the Google Display Ad Network (13.02%).
This is followed by the internet and telecommunications industry (9.31%), education (6.81%), retail (4.62%) and travel (3.71%).
Let's look at the key points we gained from the study one by one.

The desktop is the world's favorite and in Spain, it remains the king.
Five years ago it was hard to imagine the desktop as the least used of devices.
However, in 2017 it has become the great victim of display advertising: only 15% of the ads detected by Semrush were shown on desktop computers.
But if we look at each industry separately, the situation changes.
