Have you heard of the concept of ' Corporate Social Responsibility '? Yes, we know it's nothing new. Many companies have been including it in their marketing strategies for many years, but we're telling you about it because... it's still a trend and continues to bring great benefits to companies!

There are many companies that are committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR, as we will also call it throughout this article) every day. Small, medium and large companies such as Mercadona are a clear example of success in CSR.

At EWOM we have decided to write this post so that you can understand what Corporate Social Responsibility is a little better, so that you can learn how you can work on it even if you are a small company, and to show you how a successful Valencian company like Mercadona has done it, so that it can serve as inspiration for you.

What is CSR
Corporate Social Responsibility is a concept that goes beyond any malaysian whatsapp number commercial activity. It is related to the impact and scope that said activity has on the surroundings and also on the environment.

Its pillars are:

The commitment
Ethical conduct
Adaptability
Environmental performance

How we should work on CSR
If you are a small or medium-sized company, you may think that it is not relevant to work on CSR or you simply do not know how to do it.

We can all work on it! No matter the size of our company, we can commit, adapt, and have good ethical conduct regardless of the number of employees we have.

Here are some generic examples of actions you can take:

For the HR department : answering employee queries, creating equal environments, offering training, promoting personal development…
Environment : Ensure an environmentally sustainable work environment, actions to save energy, recycle…
Social action : you can make donations, and even offer free services. For example, we are beginning to see how some lawyers offer pro bono services to people in need, etc.
It doesn't matter if you are a restaurant, a hair salon, a medical clinic, a nutrition clinic... you can always implement strategies that promote CSR! Strategies that also bring great benefits to companies. Why? Because every day the public is more aware of the responsibility they have when making a purchase and that is why they care about who they are buying from and how that company behaves with the environment and its employees. Think about one thing, would you buy products from a company that you know is treating its workers badly? Or that pollutes excessively?

CSR example: Mercadona
To help you understand CSR a little better, we give you a clear example of a company that has been successful in implementing CSR strategies: Mercadona.

Mercadona is a company that implements social and environmental commitment strategies through practices that promote social well-being, among other things.

Some of the actions it carries out linked to CSR are:

– Night unloading : products are unloaded in stores at night in order to avoid interfering with urban mobility during rush hour.

– Energy savings : the company is aware of energy savings and does so by means of heat recovery systems in machine rooms, lighting of outdoor areas and parking lots and control of interior lights using presence sensors, etc.

– Social commitment : social commitment is carried out through donations to food banks and organizations such as the Red Cross, Caritas, etc.
