Content Marketing The opinions of the author

Link Relevance vs. Content Relevance in Link Building Link Building | are entirely their own (excluding the unlikely case of hypnosis) and may not always reflect those of Moz. Relevance is discussed a lot in the context of link building. The truth is, no one can really give a concrete (or even close to concrete) answer because none of us know how Google measures relevance. Even if you have access to something like the Google Natural Language Processing API and see categories like this, it doesn’t mean we know how Google themselves measures relevance because there’s a lot behind the scenes that’s not known to the public.

Even if we did know how Google measures relevance, the extent to which they reward or penalize content they find when crawling the web is debatable – just like any ranking signal. We know they use page speed, but bahrain phone number database they can also tweak this metric at will. This is partly why SEO is so fascinating. We optimize for something we can’t quite see, and we test and improve based on the results we get.

We can speculate what Google might do, or we observe what they’re doing, and then a peer might see the exact opposite result, and both could be correct. When it comes to link building, and specifically the role that relevance plays, the potential answer is a lot more complicated than we think. That’s because relevance isn’t binary. We can’t just say a link is relevant or not. We can’t say content is relevant or not.
